A Message from Bishop Kenneth Steiner

In September, I was honored to visit the teachers and students at Ecce Veritas and I was very impressed with those whom I met there.

This is the Month of the Holy Rosary, and so I was glad to know that the students not only go to Mass at Holy Rosary a few blocks away, but also find time in their busy day to pray the Rosary.

Marian devotion and Eucharistic devotion go together.  Mary leads us to her Divine Son, and God honored Mary on earth as a sign that we should honor the Mother of Our Savior and Our Mother as well.  Those who forget the Mother are in danger of forgetting the Son.

And this also is Respect Life Month -  and so we pray especially this month that we and our society will all grow in our respect for all human life, from the moment of conception to natural death.

We do live in difficult times - economic crises, the culture of death, abortion on demand and now legalized suicide, violence and war, materialism and godlessness.

We need more than ever before to foster a culture of life, a world of peace, a society of faith and hope.  How, do we do this?  First, by developing our own prayer life, and then, by bringing the Light of the Gospel into the world of darkness.

And, to do Christ’s work on earth, the mission of the Church, we need good and holy people, mothers and fathers, but also spiritual mothers and fathers - priests, sisters, brothers.  So, I encourage you to pray daily that you may realize God’s call for you - to be His disciples, to be apostles of your faith, to be missionaries of love.

May God bless all of you as you grow together in your faith and love at Ecce Veritas.  I look forward to visiting with you again.  Pray for us Bishops.
